Description

A thick, oil-based interior stain for adding rich color to prepared wood. Stain colors are sold in quarts.

Application guide

Drying times assume about 70°F and 50% humidity. Allow longer in cool or humid conditions, and follow the current can label.

Prepare & apply

Sand bare wood with 120 then 150 grit. Clean and scuff existing finishes and test adhesion first. Stir, hand apply a thin coat, and wipe excess with the grain. Do not build thick, paint-like layers, especially with Black or Carbon Gray.

Drying & next coat

Allow at least 24 hours on bare wood and at least 72 hours over existing finishes before recoating. Allow at least 72 hours before a water-based clear. Stain must be dry, without tackiness or color transfer.

Compatibility & important tips

Protect with a compatible clear such as Gel Topcoat or Arm-R-Seal. Follow the clear’s coat schedule. Oil-soaked rags can ignite: immediately place used materials in a sealed, water-filled metal container and follow local disposal instructions. Never pile them up.
